Dalat Flower Festival 2007, to be held from December 15 to 22, is expected to attract about 70,000 visitors, the festival organising board announced at a press briefing in Hanoi on October 1.

According to Truong Van Thu, Deputy Chairman of the central Highlands province of Lam Dong, head of the festival’s organising board, the cultural festival full of typical characteristics of the Central Highlands city aims to promote flowers and the horticulture.

On the first day of the event, an international exhibition of flowers will be held to introduce flower growing regions in Vietnam, ASEAN member countries, and flowers from the Netherlands, China, and Japan.

A gastronomy fair with tea, flowers and wine, a trade and tourism fair, a seminar to promote investment and art performances will take place as part of the festival.

Thu added that visitors will also be lured to the festival to witness a beauty contest for Vietnamese ethnic minority groups.(Source: VNA)
