The SuperStar Libra will dock at Ha Long Bay today to re-open Star Cruise's regular Hong Kong – Vietnam route after a three-year hiatus.
Though Star Cruise ships have made intermittent trips to Vietnam over the past three years, the company now aims to make weekly journeys regular again.
“It is estimated that about 1,000 to 2,200 passengers from Hong Kong will arrive in Ha Long Bay every week on SuperStar Libra or SuperStar Virgo in the coming time”, said Le Quang Thang, sea-travel manager at Saigontourist Travel Service (STS).
This week, SuperStar Libra's 1,700 passengers will visit Ha Long Bay, the Bai Chay Resort and enjoy shopping at the Hon Gai Market.
An additional 1,200 tourists aboard the Costa Allegra cruise liner are also set to dock in Ho Chi Minh City today.
STS said it would hold traditional music shows to welcome the passengers at both venues.
Costa Allegra guests will enjoy sightseeing in HCMC as well as trips to the Cu Chi Tunnels and the Mekong Delta's rivers and canals in My Tho and Ben Tre provinces.
