Fisheries Profession

Investigations show that Quảng Ninh’s sea has abundant resources, with many kinds of fish and shrimp, and products of high economic value for either domestic use or export.Over recent years, Quảng Ninh has paid attention to the upgrading of its boats and equipment. Modernization has raised the output of the profession, while the occupation of growing and planting products on the coast has also developed.

The practice of catching these products of the sea are still widespread. These called: catching squids and song fish, net-catching (Chã and Chài) profession, digging out sái sùng, catching sea products by lamps...(hottext)Quảng Ninh has a large sea, with 250km coastline which stretches from Trà Cô (Móng Cái Town) border to China toward Hà Nam Island (belongs to Yên Hưng) border to Hải Phòng.
Results of excavations in many archaeological sites in the Ha Long region show that the fisheries profession may have appeared between 6,000 and 7,000 years ago. Finds include net-sinkers made of terra cotta and hooks and needles made of bone from the Soi Nhụ, Thoi Giếng, Ngọc Vừng cultures. Today, these can be found in the Quảng Ninh Museum.
